Wow, I can't believe we completed a whole week of EP! It was great. I am so very very thankful for this, for so many reasons.
Uriah is reading!!! He loves it. He enjoys his school work so much! Now I need to get him reading books, not just school stuff. I am hoping he will see how easy it is to read little stuff and smaller books. He also really enjoys numbers and math stuff. He loves to spend an hour after his "school work" is done playing www.starfall.com. He loves the educational games!!
The olders are enjoying it as well. They find it easy to follow along and get the work done. They need my help in some areas, but they pretty much accomplish school independently. That is great! THey really really enjoy khanacademy.com and www.Xtramath.com. I do also!! It is really helping them see their strengths and weaknesses.
Now I need to figure out the plan for the rest of the day so they aren't just wasting time with mindless activity. I also need to figure out exactly what to do with the little kids in the morning during school time. Yes do teaching with them as well, but it's been hard with baby and a difficult 3 yr old. LOL
I do want to post more examples of what we are doing as well. I have changed the science though. I felt as though I needed to change a few things for them. Hoping I can get a better plan going for next week!!

Day 1
Well, for it being a crazy day, a monday, having a sick baby, and going to the library in the morning, I think we did pretty good!! So far all the kids like the way the school goes. We shall see as we get further into it.
Uriah started out the school day. He was able to complete Lesson 172 and part of 173. He could have done both today but I wasn't able to have him to the second parts to 173. Oh well, he can do it tomorrow. He then went on to play some math and reading games all on his own. He really enjoyed them! I am hoping he will catch on to addition and subtraction quickly and be able to work on math problems soon.
Gabe completed some alphabet work. I had planned on working Lizie and Gabe together. I am not sure though. He may move faster than her. I don't want to rush her nor do I want to hold him back. We will see. I know he still doesn't know all his letters quite yet so it should be fine.
The three olders really enjoyed their school work! They are using https://xtramath.org/ and
https://www.khanacademy.org/mission/math . Today I just had them play around on it, but tomorrow I will have them all set up with their own accounts on there so I can see their work and make sure they are doing it and doing good. ALso I can see if they need help in an area.
For reading they read about Paul Bunyan and some poems. They will be writing their own poetry this month. It will be neat to see what they learn and how they apply it into their own writing! For history they are starting on Ancient Egypt. This is an area they have learned ebfore when younger and LOVED it. It will be neat to revisit it and allow them to do some older kiddo things. One thing they will be doing is reading "The Cat of Bubastes" by Henty. Well, Siah has already read it but he will love to read it again. Interesting book. I think I shall have them write a book report after.
All three started out using theit tablets. Joanna doesn't like using hers for school. Some things were just way harder for her on it. Julia is on the fence about it. She wants to use a computer tomorrow and see what she thinks. Josiah loves his tablet, but then again he has a far superior tablet than them. I am thinking it may run better. We will see.
I am up late because the kiddos were in bed late. So now mom with lack of sleep. LOL Oh well tis my life. I am looking forward to another day tomorrow!!

A New Beginning
Well, we have been homeschooling for years. Trying anyway. It hasn't always been easy due to many many reasons. Quite honestly I have been praying for an answer to our homeschool issues for a long time. Homeschooling with 6 children and an infant is not easy, but I never assumed hs would be.
Recently while searching for some worksheets for my little ones I came across this free homeschool curriculum that is completely online. This momma of many kiddos needed a place to post her children's assignments so she did so, online so others could use it. So we have prayed and decided we are going to try this for the 180 days she suggests and see how it goes. Even if our children move faster than the schedule we are fine with that. All 6 children will be doing it.
It is called Easy Peasy Free Online Homeschool. I will past a tag from her on this blog so you can look at if you want to. I am desiring to use this blog to post our journey through this. If it works well and the kids enjoy it then we may just stick with it. We could add a few of our own things. We could find it doesn't work for us. I really don't know. But this is a journey. A journey we will walk and see where the LORD shall lead us.
I will start a post stating what each child will be doing so I can update from there. SO if you are interested to see where this takes us and how the children do with it, follow along on our journey!
